And among the\u00a0shellfish, mussels are one of the most beloved.<\/p>\n<p>Mussels are a great source of antioxidants, proteins, iron and vitamins C and B; and mineral salts, such as Potassium, Sodium and Zinc, which have a beneficial digestive effect. Moreover, they have very low calories, counting just 86 calories\/100grams.<\/p>\n<p>Recently it was found out that\u00a0mussels\u00a0can be considered the most important natural anti-inflammatory, due to the their high\u00a0glucosamine content. This is the\u00a0reason why they are\u00a0recommended for people\u00a0who suffer from rheumatism, arthritis and arthrosis.<\/p>\n<h2>Mussels Gratin with Red Pesto<\/h2>\n<p>Last night, to celebrate\u00a0the 15th of August, which is a holiday in Italy, I invited some of my friends in my place and prepared this delicious dish, the Mussels Gratin with Red Pesto!<\/p>\n<h3>Ingredients<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>1\/2 kilo of fresh mussels<\/li>\n<li>3 cloves of garlic<\/li>\n<li>100 gr crumble bread<\/li>\n<li>1 Jar of <a href=\"http:\/\/tastewithgusto.ie\/shop\/red-pesto\/\">Red Pesto<\/a><\/li>\n<li>a bunch of parsley<\/li>\n<li>50grams shaved parmesan<\/li>\n<li>1 dl <a href=\"http:\/\/tastewithgusto.ie\/shop\/extra-virgin-olive-oil-il-vero-1-lt\/\">Extra Virgin Olive Oil &#8220;Il Vero&#8221;<\/a><\/li>\n<li>1\u00a0glass of white wine<\/li>\n<li>Optional <a href=\"http:\/\/tastewithgusto.ie\/shop\/white-balsamic-vinegar-prelibato\/\">Prelibato &#8211; white balsamic vinegar<\/a><\/li>\n<li>black pepper<\/li>\n<li>salt<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Preparation<\/h3>\n<div id=\"preparation\" class=\"col-xs-12\">\n<div>\n<p>Farm-raised mussels are thankfully quite clean to begin with and don&#8217;t require the rigorous individual scrubbing-under-water that <a href=\"http:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/clean-mussels-safely-surely\/\" target=\"_blank\">wild mussels<\/a> do, but you&#8217;ll still have to give them a quick once over. Place your mussels in a bowl and run them under cold water. Rinse, rub\u00a0off and debeard them under the water, as necessary.<\/p>\n<p>Put the mussels in a big pan, and set the medium-high heat, add the wine and cover the pan.\u00a0Remove from the stove when the shellfish start to\u00a0open.
