She was a wealthy woman who wanted to buy the machine that could wash her dishes faster than her servants. Since she couldn&#8217;t find one, \u00a0she furiously exclaimed: &#8220;If no one has yet invented the machine to do the dishes, I&#8217;ll do it myself!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/maniche-1160x653-e1487282190250.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4446\" src=\"http:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/maniche-1160x653-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>She invented a device with a water pump system that splashed the dishes with water and soap. Furthermore, she measured every piece of her dining set and drew a container for each one. As a result, all the cages were put in a copper boiler and inside they could rotate thanks to a manual engine. After the washing, the containers were removed to let the dishes get dried.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/cochrane-460x320-e1486514780171.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4408 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/cochrane-460x320-300x209.jpg\" alt=\"the fist dishwasher\" width=\"300\" height=\"209\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This rudimental dishwasher was introduced to the World&#8217;s Fair in Chicago Cochrane in 1893. Josephine won the highest accolade for her invention. As a result, she begins the manufacturing process.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/1893-chicago-fair-ticket-e1487282273667.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4447\" src=\"http:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/1893-chicago-fair-ticket-300x179.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"179\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The dishwasher was initially snapped up in hotels and restaurants. Eventually, her customers extended to housewives and families who could afford it!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/352b9f2635d09a83df63f996ea74443a-e1487282475262.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4449 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/352b9f2635d09a83df63f996ea74443a-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"dishwasher\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In 1913, Josephine died due to a stroke at age 74. She will be remembered as the engineering legend who created the first dishwasher machine in her back garden shed.
