Starting in New York as a result of the efforts of the Socialist Party. Even before that, women&#8217;s strokes were becoming popular all around America and Europe.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/10625-e1488969315379.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4594 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/10625-300x161.jpg\" alt=\"women day protest\" width=\"300\" height=\"161\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Actually, it was during the first half of the 19th century that women started\u00a0organising marches and protests. Their objective was to make their social and political rights be recognized. In fact, The Suffragette&#8217;s Movements began to emerge\u00a0in the Western Hemisphere around 1907.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/25-fotografie-di-donne-che-hanno-cambiato-la-storia-21-e1488969375760.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4595 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/25-fotografie-di-donne-che-hanno-cambiato-la-storia-21-214x300.jpg\" alt=\"women day protest\" width=\"214\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In other parts of the World, the Universal Suffrage was achieved previously as a result of a hard fought battle. For example, \u00a0in New Zealand, where women\u00b4s got the right to vote in 1893.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/National_Council_of_Women_Christchurch_1896.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4618 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/National_Council_of_Women_Christchurch_1896-300x218.jpg\" alt=\"women day \" width=\"300\" height=\"218\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/National_Council_of_Women_Christchurch_1896-300x218.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/National_Council_of_Women_Christchurch_1896-768x557.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/National_Council_of_Women_Christchurch_1896.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After the first &#8220;Woman&#8217;s Day&#8221; in February of 1909, \u00a0a huge protest march took place in November of the same year. The protest involved 20 thousand shirt tailors and it lasted until the 15th of February of the following year. After that, Woman&#8217;s Day gained much more attention than the previous years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Ladies_tailors_strikers-e1488974434542.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4605 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Ladies_tailors_strikers-300x195.jpg\" alt=\"women day\" width=\"300\" height=\"195\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"thumb tright\"><\/div>\n<p>At that point, Woman&#8217;s Day became a fact.<\/p>\n<p>During the International Conference of Copenhagen on the 26th of August 1910. Official Woman&#8217;s Day was established\u00a0as a Bank Holiday.<\/p>\n<p>One hundred women attended the Conference, representing 17 different countries. From that day, each country established a Bank Holiday on a different date, usually related to an\u00a0important date of the country itself.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, Germany, Austria and Switzerland decided to celebrate Women\u00b4s day on the 19th of March. The date was chosen\u00a0to remember\u00a0the Prussian King, who didn&#8217;t honor his promise of recognizing women&#8217;s rights in 1848. In Sweden was fixed on the 1st of May, as the Labour Day. In France on the 18th of March, to commemorate the Paris Commune.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/images-e1488974692827.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4610 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/images-300x129.jpg\" alt=\"women day protest\" width=\"300\" height=\"129\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, in July 1914 Woman&#8217;s Day was abolished during the First World War<\/p>\n<p>In Russia (St. Pietroburgo) on the 8th of March 1917, hundreds of Russian women took to the streets and protested against the Zar and asked for the ending of the First World War.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/International_Womens_Day_1917-e1488974518109.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4606 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/International_Womens_Day_1917-300x195.jpg\" alt=\"women day protest\" width=\"300\" height=\"195\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For this reason, the 8th of March was chosen as\u00a0International Working Woman&#8217;s Day by the representatives of women during the Second Socialist Internation Conference.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a class=\"image\" href=\"https:\/\/it.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/File:Frauentag_1914_Heraus_mit_dem_Frauenwahlrecht.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"thumbimage alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/thumb\/0\/0a\/Frauentag_1914_Heraus_mit_dem_Frauenwahlrecht.jpg\/220px-Frauentag_1914_Heraus_mit_dem_Frauenwahlrecht.jpg\" alt=\"women day\" width=\"220\" height=\"341\" data-file-width=\"1467\" data-file-height=\"2275\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Nowadays the 8th of March is the official Woman&#8217;s Day, chosen by ONU.<\/p>\n<p>In Italy, the first celebration occurred in 1922, but this practice strengthened over the years. Woman&#8217;s Day was consolidated\u00a0in 1945 thanks to the Women&#8217;s Union, born after the Fascism fall.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/suffragette-e1488974559915.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4607 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/suffragette-300x214.jpg\" alt=\"women day\" width=\"300\" height=\"214\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In Italy, the symbol of Woman&#8217;s Day is the silver wattle or &#8220;<em>mimosa<\/em>&#8220;. This tradition was introduced 1946 by Teresa Mattei, the youngest politician female at that time. It is a very common flower, which blooms exactly at the beginning of March.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/mimosa_donna520-e1488974600593.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4608 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/mimosa_donna520-300x173.jpg\" alt=\"mimosa flower \" width=\"300\" height=\"173\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the past decade, Woman&#8217;s Day has also been taken as a chance to deal with different topics such as marriage, divorce, abortion or homosexuality.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/image.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4609\" src=\"http:\/\/cookwithgusto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/image.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"188\" height=\"272\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>International Woman&#8217;s Day officially born on the 28th of February 1909.
