Pizza Flowers with Cheese and Peppers

Though April showers come your way, they bring the flowers that bloom in May!

These are our first 12 flowers of the season for you… and we hope you enjoy them!

I’m referring to these beautifully presented Pizza Flowers… A dish that will conquer your heart. Nobody can say no to such a tasty little flower full of cheese!

For my recipe, I used pepper strings but you can also make it with artichokes, sun dried tomatoes or any other ingredient of your choice!

Kneading and shaping the dough can be fun when cooking with friends, family or kids so bring them all into the kitchen and let’s  welcome spring in our tables 🙂

Get ready and try my:

Pizza Flowers with Cheese and Peppers

Ingredients for 12 Flowers:

Ingredients

Sift the flour in a big bowl, then stir the salt and baking powder. Pour the lukewarm water into the mixture and wait few minutes. Then knead the dough, until smooth. Shape the dough like a ball. Cover the dough with a kitchen cloth and let it stand for 2-3 hours until the volume will be twofold.

Make the dough

In the meanwhile, dice the pepper strips and the cheddar.

Roll out the dough into a nice circle that is about a half a centimetre thick.

Roll out the dough

With a food ring mould of about 11 cm (or a big breakfast mug) cut the dough, obtaining dough circles.

Obtaining circles from the dough

With a 6cm food ring mould (or an espresso cup) stamp a little circle in the middle of the circle. Use the central circular imprint as a guide, to cut with a knife little stripes, such as rays.

Cut the rays

Join two strips together to create the petals of the flowers.

Create the petals

When your flowers are ready, put a bit of the diced pepper strips in the middle and then a bit of diced cheddar on top. Then brush the flowers with Extra Virgin Olive Oil “Il Vero”.

Add peppers strips and cheddar on top

Bake in the oven at 200°C for 20minutes.
