Italian Brunch Savoury Croissants

 

Croissant or “Cornetti” as we call it in Italy, are a staple of Italian breakfast. In every Italian bar, the morning starts with a large crowd holding a cappuccino in one hand and a cornetto in the other one.

But the recipe that I have for you today ..is another story…

Today, I have prepared for you delicious savoury croissants which is not exactly the same as a “cornetto”. The main difference is that these croissants have many different layers.

This recipe is very easy and it’s the perfect snack with tea! All you need is a sheet of puff pastry filled with a Country Tomato Sauce, fresh basil,  Black Olives, cheese and Sundried Tomatoes.

Italian Brunch Savoury Croissants

Ingredients for 8 Croissants:

Ingredients

Divide the Puff Pastry sheet into 8 parts.

Spread a spoon of Country Tomato Sauce on each triangle.

Chop the cheese and put few pieces of cheese on each triangle.

Add the cheese

Put a leave of basil on each triangle.

Add a little bit of chopped Blak Olives and one piece of Sundried Tomato each triangle.

To roll, you’ll start with the base of the triangle, folding it and then rolling it toward the tip.

Spread with beaten egg, and sprinkle on top sesame or poppy seeds.

Roll your croissants up, spread egg and sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds

Bake at 180°C for 15-20 minutes, until golden.
